Following a relaxed and peaceful night in the cabin we had a rather late start on today's stage towards Hirtshals and Tversted.
The first 20 km took us through completely uninhabited areas; well, there were no humans but lots of life.
These freely roaming horses came close to investigate the two bicyclists. A pair of cranes were in the neighbouring field.
Eventually, we took a left-turn towards the village Kaas. This photo is 4 Sine, and she knows why ;-)
Unfortunately, the weather remained windy, wet and cold. We donned most of our clothes and rolled along with a broad reach wind. Kaas, Pandrup, Hune, Saltum and Ingstrup were checked out before we took a late lunch stop in SuperBrugsen at Løkken.
From Løkken to Hjørring we were lucky to have a strong backwind so we cruised at 25-27 km/hour. Just north of Hjørring my bicycle lost a second spoke in the back wheel and a beginning x-ing was becoming apparent. Therefore, we reorganized all the luggage, so Eva got most of it on her bike.
Here's the missis with my debilitated bike on the train. |
Just by chance, the mishap happened less than 100 meters away from the local railway station Vellingshøj, so we rolled slowly to the platform and got on the train to Hirtshals 10 minutes later.
We booked a spoke repair tomorrow at the local bike wizard and then biked cautiously the final 15 km to Tversted where we are now inside a nice house; tired, drying and happy to have another 86 kilometers "under the belt".
